Somalia was faced with three decades of violent conflict which have eroded institutional structures and severely strained the economy of this traditionally pastoralist society. Though the political structure subsequently showed signs of stabilization for the past 10 years and the country has been progressing and is now making rapid progress towards peace, stability and prosperity but continues to be in a delicate state due to the militant group aiming to oust the government and recurring intern clan conflict making people to inaccessible to basic social services. This causes lack of transparency and accountability as well as limit to raise their voices about issues affecting their lives. Therefore, without significance progress on peace, justice and strong institution as stipulated under SDG16, progress will be very difficult to achieve. At the same time it will derail efforts to achieve other SDGs and it’s this backdrop that ADRO focuses to strengthen locals capacity through capacity building for peace, advocacy and partnership for bridge building and collaboration to improve service delivery, advocate peace, support public knowledge of their government plan and policies to enhance progress, accountability and participation.
ADRO’s peace building and community cohesion aims to addresses social injustice through public dialogue, social and ethics cohesion, governance reforms, civic voices, advocacy, media, rule of laws and human rights protection.
