About Us
Access Development and Relief Organization (ADRO) is a national non-governmental organization founded and registered formally in Somalia on 19th February 1995. ADRO was established by a group of professionals with the aim to provide aid to vulnerable people affected by civil wars, humanitarian shocks such as floods, droughts and conflicts. ARDO has been expanding its operation across Somalia aspiring to reach people in disaster affected hard to reach areas in and outside Somalia
Since its inception, ADRO has been working at a grass root level and seeking to provide an effective charity model to promote sustainable economic and social development through relief and development programs in addition to emergency relief. Acting as an impartial and subscribing to the humanitarian principles of ‘Neutrality and Do no harm’, ADRO focuses on minimum standards common to all sectors. Its programs cover sustainable Developmental and poverty eradication programs including health, nutrition, WASH, food security & livelihood as well as shelter & protection. The organization also provides good governance, human rights and GBV advocacy programs.
The organization work with and for diversified beneficiaries but gives high priority to vulnerable women, girls, children, elderly & youths affected by both natural and man-made calamities in regions of Banadir, Beletweyne, Jalalaqsi, Bulo Burto (Hiraan), Jowhar, Balcad (Middle Shebelle), Afgooye, Marka, Kurtunwarey, Qoryooley, Wanlaweyn (Lower Shebelle), Baidoa, Xudur, Waajid, Quansaxdheere, Buur hakana, Tiyeglow (Bay & Bakool), Ceel bur, Ceeldheer, Adado, Galkayo (Galmudug & Galgaduud), Jamame, Kismayo, Afmadow, Dollow, Bardheere, Belet xawa, Luuq (Lower Juba & Gedo) in Somalia and has main office in Mogadishu.
ADRO has had potential partnership with Donors including UN agencies, International NGOs in particular OCHA, SHF, FAO, UNDP, WFP, CARE-Somalia, Life and Peace Institute, African Education Trust, International Medical Corps, and ADRA-Somalia, Muslim Aid UK, local NGOs, local communities, and local authorities in a clear and transparent way of collaboration while engaging them in all project periods from inception to evaluation and striving for an enabling environment for the beneficiaries to meet their essential needs.
ADRO has set up and put in place written and documented policies; collecting them in to specific manual policies. (Administration and Financial Policy, General Logistics Policy, Human Resources Policy, Project Management Guide policies and others)
