The CLIMB Project, funded by UN FAO and implemented by ADRO, focuses on enhancing food security, promoting improved nutrition, and building economic resilience among vulnerable communities in Marka District, Somalia. The project began in May 2024 and aims to address climate-related challenges by fostering sustainable agricultural practices and empowering communities through capacity-building initiatives.
Key progress to date includes the registration of 2,000 beneficiaries, prioritizing women-headed households, marginalized groups, and other vulnerable populations. In addition, 13 Mother-to-Mother (M2M) groups have been formed, and 26 Nutrition Champions have been selected to lead efforts in promoting maternal nutrition, good dietary behaviors, and food safety awareness within their communities.
While input distribution and other activities are planned for subsequent phases, these foundational steps ensure the project is well-positioned to deliver its objectives effectively. Continuous monitoring and collaboration with stakeholders are ongoing to ensure smooth implementation and alignment with project goals.
Despite logistical challenges and security concerns, ADRO remains committed to achieving the project’s targets by May 2025, ensuring sustainable outcomes for the targeted communities.
